Grace
Give your kids the same grace, patience and understanding that you desire. Give them the grace you hoped for and didn't receive. Remember that as you are currently growing and learning about yourself they are going through the same process. #Grow&Glow2gether
Accountability
Hold yourself accountable for the emotionally healthy promises that you have made to yourself. Hold yourself accountable for the emotionally healthy promises thatyou have made to your kid (s). Forgive yourself for not honoring yourself for whatever reason in the past. Forgive yourself for not honoring your children in the past and present. Commit to starting right where you are today. It's not too late.
Connections
Humans need opportunities to connect with others. It does wonders for your mental and emotional health. "Attention Seeking" behavior is often "Connection Seeking" behavior. As you make time to connect with others to reset, relax and recharge remember that your kids will benefit from the same kind of connection with you. "Connection Seeking" isn't your children trying to make life harder for you. They are just expressing that they need you.
Love
Lead with love. When you love something you will do everything in your power not to hurt, harm or destroy it. As you learn new ways to love yourself, learn how to truly love your children by understanding their love language too. Think about how you wanted the adults in your life growing up to understand you at your core. Find ways to love your children so that they feel seen, valued and heard.
Modeling
Our children do more of what we do than what we tell them to do. They are always watching. They are always learning from our actions whether they are healthy or toxic. Think about what your daily actions and interactions are teaching them. You set the tone and plant the seeds of what their future life will potentially be. As you are "going through and growing through" your healing, be intentional about modeling habits of what being healthy and whole from the inside out looks like.
